Uber is not just for rides anymore…well at least for today! Thanks to Uber’s promotional event #UberPUPPIES (a special delivery service that brings puppies to your front door), the OMJ staff had a puppy party that made our hearts melt!
Of course we caught it all on Snapchat:
After reading the NJ.com story about the promotion during our morning news meeting, all other work basically stopped as we attempted to order them for a longer time than we care to admit. We really, really wanted those puppies.
Finally we got a call from Uber confirming that we were actually trying to order puppies and not a car. Well, yeah, d’oh. A few minutes later, two adorable Labrador mixes got out of their Suburban outside our Jersey City office. The only thing cuter than their faces were their names. Gravy and his sister Waffles gave us the much needed snuggle session we were craving.
For a four-hour window on Thursday only (from 11 am – 3 pm), UberPUPPIES delivered canine cuteness to their customers for a small “snuggle fee” of $30 for 15 minutes. The promotion was offered in Hudson County, Newark, Cherry Hill, Philadelphia and Pittsburgh. The dogs were provided by several animal non-profits: Southern Paws Inc., the Pennsylvania SPCA and the Western Pennsylvania Humane Society. The organizations are hoping these furry visits will help spread the word about the many dogs looking for a new home and a family to love.
We also captured all the puppy action on Facebook live and you can watch it here.
