Lea Michele is not only an actress and singer, but the former Tenafly resident also serves as a role model to girls all over the country. For these reasons and more, she’s been chosen as a 2016 Step Up Inspiration Awards honoree on Friday.

Lea turned heads at the event, showing up to the Beverly Hills Hotel in Los Angeles wearing a blush pink Michael Kors dress, Sophia Webster shoes, an Edie Parker clutch, and jewelry by Misa, Jacquie Aiche, and Meirat.

The 29-year-old Scream Queens star explained why her mother is her biggest inspiration, citing her mom’s “glass half full” attitude as a key example. Lea then offered some advice to the teens looking to become the next generation of women who promote change.

“Being a shero sounds impossible,” Michele said, according to Variety. “But we can all be sheroes together. My wish for the Step Up girls is to stand up and support one another.”

Actress and advocate Gabrielle Union was also honored that night. The Being Mary Jane star spoke candidly about her personal journey of self-discovery, self-love and acceptance. She also shared the obstacles she’s battled throughout her life, including being a 19-year-old rape survivor. Husband and basketball icon, Dwyane Wade was there to support her.
