Girl bands are having a major moment right now. With Little Mix and Fifth Harmony, the music industry is all about girl power! The next group to take over the airwaves has been formed by the one and only Kelly Rowland of Destiny’s Child! Rowland hosted her own music competition, Chasing Destiny on BET, and last week the group of five talented singers were announced. One of those lucky young women is Trenton native Brienna DeVlugt.
Brienna is no stranger to the music industry, having cut her first album at the age of 7! Yes, you read that right. She was in her first group in 2012, and in her senior year at Rutgers University, the economic major landed the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be a contestant on the BET show. The announcement of the winners came just last week, and if this cover of “Hotline Bling” is any indication of what’s to come, I think these women are going to KILL IT! According to her bio, Brienna hopes to “spread positivity and address major issues affecting women through her music. Her overall goal is to simply create music that everyone loves and can connect too.”
