Will Whoopi Goldberg be returning to co-host ABC’s daytime talk show The View? Right now, it’s hard to say. While The Daily Mail claims that she’s signed a $2.5 million contract to remain on the popular show, a representative of the show told Page Six, “Reports that Whoopi [Goldberg] signed a new deal are false.” Radar also hinted earlier this month that Whoopi’s days as a co-host may be numbered.
What we do know for sure is that Whoopi, who lives in West Orange, New Jersey, will be the executive producer of a new transgender modeling show on Oxygen called Strut, covering the models of Slay Model Management. She recently discussed the topic on The View, saying “God doesn’t make mistakes. Nature sometimes skips a beat and takes you to a different place.”
In a statement about the pioneering show, which will premiere on Oxygen later in 2016, Goldberg said, “This show is important right now, because for all of the positive advances the community has made and continues to make, transgender is still a hot-button word that gets people hysterical. People tend to focus on the stereotype instead of the person, and this series will give viewers a unique opportunity to spend time with real people who are struggling with the same challenges we all face as we make our way through the world.”
