During one of his two Dublin, Ireland stops on The River tour over Memorial Day weekend, fans got a special treat when Bruce Springsteen had U2’s Bono join him onstage for hit song “Because The Night.” Watch their performance here:
Judging from the photos we’ve seen, Bono’s appearance, along with Springsteen’s penchant for belting out songs from amidst his adoring fans, was a hit.
The popular tune, written by Jersey native Springsteen and Patti Smith, first appeared on Smith’s 1978 album Easter. Bruce’s wife and E Street Band member Patti Scialfa posted a throwback photo of the Smith and Springsteen recently on Instagram:
The musical superstars have shared a stage before, notably during the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 25th Anniversary concert at Madison Square Garden in 2009.
Springsteen’s The River tour will continue in Europe and return home to New Jersey in August for shows at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford.
