Real Housewives of New Jersey stars Teresa and Joe Giudice are getting back on track financially.

Attorney James J. Leonard tells PEOPLE that Teresa and husband Joe have “successfully negotiated a repayment schedule that allows Ms. Giudice to make payments towards the past due amount and remain current with her existing tax obligations.”

Leonard also mentioned that the Giudices have already begun to make payments towards past and upcoming taxes.

Although Teresa and Joe are on their way to fixing their finances after a 2010 bankruptcy filing which eventually led to plea deals on fraud charges, there are still legal issues to settle. (Joe reported to prison in March, where he is serving a 41-month sentence while Teresa holds down the home front for their four daughters.)

The couple’s bankruptcy case has been reopened. As a result, Teresa’s legal malpractice suit against bankruptcy lawyer, James Kridel (in which she claims he is responsible for her conviction and incarceration) has been put on hold.

The reopening of the bankruptcy case means that Teresa may have to share a portion of any potential awards from the malpractice suit with her creditors.

Hopefully things get sorted out soon!
