Here at OMJ, we love social media (if you couldn’t already tell), but as with anything in life, too much of a good thing can turn it into a not-so-good thing. Nowhere is that more true than with social media, where one click can easily lead to one thousand clicks and you’re staying up until three in the morning prowling a stranger’s Instagram (or maybe that’s just me!).
This is true for celebrities as well, as tv host and model Daisy Fuentes, who was raised in Harrison, New Jersey, is all too aware. Fuentes, a contributing editor at POPSUGAR Latina, wrote about how she manages her social media presence without letting it take over her life, observing, “Social media can be a great way of connecting with new people and catching up with friends and family. But it can also keep you from real life and face-to-face interactions. Too much social media can have negative effects on your mood and can be the cause of unhealthy emotions.” Unplugging once in a while is good for your health and can help you appreciate every last Tweet, like and regram all the more.
She also offered her tips for managing social media overwhelm, which include putting all phones away during dinners out (and whoever reaches for theirs first has to pony up for the bill!), keeping her phone in her purse when she’s driving, and setting her phone to silent before bedtime.
But that doesn’t mean Daisy avoids social media; in fact, between her Instagram, Facebook and Twitter accounts, she has over 250,000 followers! Here’s some of our favorite fashion-forward shots of the stunning Jersey girl, alone and with her husband, singer-songwriter Richard Marx. Daisy looks fabulous wherever she goes (and has clearly mastered the art of the selfie).
