Mallrats fans, rejoice! The long-awaited sequel to the classic Jersey-set Kevin Smith movie is coming…to your TV screen. As Entertainment Weekly reports, in a recent interview with WMMR, Smith said, “We started reconfiguring the idea of doing Mallrats not as a film but as a series, and Universal and I are just about to close our deal to do Mallrats the series. Then we take it out into the world and find a home for it. So, instead of doing a Mallrats movie, I’m going to do 10 episodes of a Mallrats series.”

Jason Mewes, one half of the infamous Jay and Silent Bob duo (with Kevin as Silent Bob), told Metro UK earlier this year, “We’re shooting Mallrats 2 in July or August. It’ll be awesome. The characters from the first movie will be there with their kids in the mall.”

While not much more has been officially announced, the IMDB listing for what’s known as Mallbrats (the final title may change) lists most of the original cast, including Jason Lee, Shannon Doherty and Scott Mosier, as well as Smith’s 16-year-old daughter Harley Quinn Smith. Harley stars in Kevin’s next film, Yoga Hosers (out July 29), alongside with real life best friend Lily-Rose Depp, daughter of Johnny Depp.

Harley said in an interview with Ladygunn that Mallards is the only film of her father’s that she’s seen, because “I was told when I was little not to [watch his films] because I would be scared. My dad asks why I don’t watch his movies and I say it’s because I have this thing in the back of my mind that I’ll never want to talk to my family again if I see the films.”

Here’s a Jay and Silent Bob clip from Mallrats (needless to say, there’s some language that’s not appropriate for children):
