Do you love the great outdoors but aren’t a fan of huge crowds? Well, get ready to explore a side of Jersey you probably didn’t know about: the Delaware Bayshore. Billing itself as “the other Jersey Shore,” this beautiful coastline region has lots to offer, from the East Point Lighthouse in Maurice River Township (pictured above) to A.J. Meerwald, New Jersey’s official tall ship.

According to Meghan Wren, executive director of the Bayshore Center of Bivalve, “We have beaches and most of what the Jersey Shore has except for traffic so we have awesome opportunities for people to get outdoors and open space set aside for everyone in New Jersey to appreciate.”

Visit the area’s official tourism site for suggested itineraries for seafood lovers, birding enthusiasts, families with kids and maritime history buffs.
