Netflix does not disappoint when it comes to their original projects and they’re back with some of Hollywood’s biggest names to give viewers a taste of the unknown. Actress Rooney Mara, daughter of the New York Giants founder, has teamed up with Jason Segel (How I Met Your Mother) and Robert Redford (All the President’s Men) for the streaming service’s new sci-fi romance drama film The Discovery.

The film will be directed by Rooney’s longtime boyfriend Charlie McDowell. Charlie is widely known for his 2014 film The One I Love starring Mad Men‘s Elisabeth Moss. Charlie tapped his The One I Love co-writer Justin Lader to help write the Netflix script.

The movie surrounds a scientist (Robert) who proves there is life after death and a budding romance between his son Will (Jason) and a woman haunted by a twisted past (Rooney).

“To describe the story as original doesn’t begin to capture the world that Charlie has created that will envelop you,” Netflix Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos said, according to Entertainment Weekly. “Our global viewers are going to love this film.”

The Discovery will premiere on Netflix and in select theaters in 2017.
