During the Tuesday episode of Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live, Nick Jonas revealed he was responsible for breaking up his family band the Jonas Brothers back in 2013. The 23-year-old former Wyckoff resident actually initiated the conversation that eventually led to the group’s demise.
“It was a very tough conversation and it left the family kind of shaken up for a little while,” Nick told Andy Cohen. “I mean we were about to start a tour. We were two days from starting a tour.”
This wasn’t the first time the “Bacon” crooner spoke out about the fallout between his brothers. In October 2013, shortly after the band went their separate ways, the boys appeared on Good Morning America with a lot to say.
“In a nutshell, I said, ‘Look, I feel like we’ve had some complications within the group for a long time without addressing them. I think this train will fall off the tracks without really getting real about some of the concerns and some of the limitations that we may feel as individuals in the group.'”
Since the break up, Kevin, Joe and Nick have each earned achievements and success based off of individual merit. Here’s the top three reasons why we believe the Jonas Brothers split was best for everyone:
1. Nick Jonas is having one hell of a solo career
2. Joe Jonas blessed the music world with DNCE
3. Kevin Jonas is happily married with a beautiful 2-year-old girl and another baby on the way.
Don’t believe us? Well, Nick does:
“We’re good now. I have a beautiful niece. My brother has a family. Joe’s band DNCE is doing very well. It’s good for everybody and it’s good that it happened because I think we all grew from it, but it was very challenging for a little while.”
