American Idol veteran and Wyckoff-raised Constantine Maroulis got into a heated argument with the mother of his child and things turned physical, according TMZ. The news outlet reported that the Broadway star got into yet another heated debate with Angel Reed when she arrived at his house to pick up their 5-year-old daughter.
Angel claims Constantine began harassing her by filming their interaction on his phone. Despite the complaints against him, it was Angel who walked out of the altercation in handcuffs.
According to documents obtained by TMZ, Angel stole Constantine’s phone which caused him to throw her down onto the ground. She allegedly managed to run out of the house and call the police, but when cops found scratches on Constantine’s chest, they arrested Angel instead. TMZ did not indicate what state or city the incident took place in.
She says the scratches were used in self-defense. Angel was charged with “petty disorderly person.”
Unfortunately this is not the first time something like this has happened. Last August, Constantine was reportedly arrested for kicking Angel in her groin, later claiming it was self-defense. The case was ultimately dismissed.
After a sixth-place finish on Idol‘s 4th season in 2005, Constantine toured with the band Pray for the Soul of Betty and then found success in musical theater. He was nominated for a Tony for his performance in Rock of Ages. He met Angel while he was performing in the show (she was in the chorus) and the two welcomed their daughter Malena James Reed-Maroulis in December, 2010. He was born in Brooklyn but his Greek-American family moved to Wyckoff when he was 5.
