In a Facebook Live post recorded in the Hamptons on Friday, Andy Cohen, host of Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live, announced a new AC2 benefit show he’s hosting with CNN anchorman Anderson Cooper on June 30 in Orlando. The evening promises “an unscripted, unpredictable night of laughs and conversation” and will benefit the OneOrlando Fund, with proceeds going to the victims of the recent shooting at Pulse nightclub and their families.
AC2 Live is a touring show in which the two TV personalities dish “deep talk and shallow tales.” During his Facebook Live post, Andy said, “My favorite thing about touring with Anderson Cooper is being with Anderson, cause I love him and I have so much respect for him. I love hanging out with him; he’s a really good friend. I’m so proud of his work this week.”
Anderson has been reporting from Orlando in the wake of the shooting last weekend by gunman Omar Mateen, while Andy has been outspoken on social media in light of the news. He posted moving tributes on Instagram to the men and women who died in the shooting, as well as photos from a vigil held outside New York’s iconic gay bar Stonewall Inn.
Andy, who is currently writing his third book, Superficial: More Adventures from the Andy Cohen Diaries, also answered plenty of viewer questions about himself and, of course, everyone’s favorite Bravo stars, the Real Housewives.
Along the way, he touched on everything from the election (“if it’s between Hillary and Trump, I think there’s only one choice”) to his personal life (yes, he’s dating). He planned to spend the weekend at the beach and hang out with Sarah Jessica Parker. In what Andy called “an educational Facebook Live,” he also got a crash course in professional basketball from viewers and adorably tried to guess team names. Other Andy fun facts: He whitens his teeth, but will not dye his hair. He’s a big fan of the new OJ Simpson documentary.
Andy emphasized that he did indeed cry while watching the Season 7 premiere of Real Housewives of New Jersey, saying, “I did cry. I really did.” Yes, of course we’re jealous that he got to see it before its July 10 air date.
We say: more Facebook Live posts, please, Andy!
