Kids and horses=perfect together, and today you can treat your family to a day of outdoor animal fun with the Pony Up! Festival being held at the United States Equestrian Team Headquarters in Gladstone, New Jersey. The event, which has a $10 admission fee, runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., rain or shine, and is organized by toy company Breyer, who’ll be giving every kid attending a free model horse! Even cooler: the actual horses the toy horses are modeled on will be making an appearance, and there’ll be demonstrations from Arabian and draft horses as well as ponies. Pony Up! is geared toward children 13 and younger, and has lots to offer, including face painting, magicians, a craft activity tent where you can paint model horses and play tables.
Local stables will have representatives at the festival who can discuss riding lessons with young horse lovers. There will also be model horse hobby workshops ranging from Create Your Dream Horse to Halter Making and Creating a Horse Suncatcher. Since it’s an outdoor event, Breyer suggestions casual clothes such as t-shirts, shorts and sneakers. Since the Garden State has more horses per square mile than any other state, we’re sure this event will be a hit with Jersey kids eager to pet, ride and enjoy these beautiful creatures.
