It’s prime blueberry picking season, and New Jersey has plenty of farms that are perfect spots to go for a fun day of gathering your own sweet treats to gobble up (or put in a blueberry pie). For instance, Hammonton refers to itself on signs posted around town as “the blueberry capital of the world.”

Among the many farms in Hammonton where you can pick your own fruit are Blueberry Bill Farms, which also sells frozen blueberries year round, Lindsay’s Pick Your Own Blueberries and DiMeo Farms, where you can get your own blueberry plants to grow yourself (they also ship those if you can’t get to the farm itself). If you really love blueberries, you can even get married at DiMeo Farms.

Mood’s Farm Market in Mullica Hill is open through Labor Day. When blueberry season ends, you can enjoy apple picking hayrides in September and pumpkin hayrides in October.

Alstede Farms in Chester is hosting a blueberry festival the weekends of July 9-10 and July 16-17, where there will be everything from blueberry shortcake to blueberry ice cream, with a blueberry pancake breakfast on the morning of July 10. Looks like there’s a lot of fun happened at this family owned farm, which also hosts farm tours.
