On Friday night, The Amber Rose Talk Show debuted on VH1, and the notoriously outspoken model and host Amber Rose was not shy about talking about sex or anything else. She opened the show by telling her audience, “You guys don’t know this about me, but I’m a virgin. Just kidding, I’m a ho.”
Sporting bright red lipstick, a plunging black neckline and a superhero inspired white jacket with a colorful red and yellow design, Amber led the racy discussion that’s far more frank than what you’ll see on most any other daytime or nighttime talk show. When a woman asked her about whether penis size really matters, Amber’s response was, “Go big or go home.” She gave advice about everything from condom size to how to keep a long distance relationship steamy with sexting, which Amber demonstrated by taking an audience member’s phone and offering up some sample texts, strategically using her MuvaMoji emojis.
Amber dished on gossip about everyone from her pal Iggy Azalea to Chris Brown and Justin Bieber, who she advised to call her if he’s looking for a date. She also said that Alpine resident Lil’ Kim, who’ll be honored on Monday at the VH1 Hip Hop Honors, where Amber will be doing red carpet interviews, is her “all time idol.”
Amber spoke with Time about how the show got off the ground. “Initially, I didn’t even think about having a talk show, but then I did my SlutWalk and I was like, man, it would be really cool to have a bigger platform to talk about these issues, being really sex positive and unapologetic,” she said. When she appeared on an episode of The Doctors to talk about slut shaming, it was actually Dr. Phil who told her, “You should have your own show.”
He meant it, because the show is produced by Dr. Phil’s Stage 29 Productions; the first season will have eight episodes. As Amber described its subject matter, “It’s going to be about sex, relationships, obviously feminism, because I am a feminist. But this show isn’t just for women, it’s for men as well. It’s just fun, there’s a lot of comedy involved as well, we’re going to do funny skits, I’ll interview celebrities.”
Amber started with rapper (and Pompton Plains resident) French Montana, who’s been in the news for having dated Khloé Kardashian (he’ll also be joining the cast of Empire for Season 3). She got personal about how close the two of them really are and even helped him find his next date (with a very unique vetting process that involved erotica banana eating—yes, really).
Amber also took the opportunity to joke about her famous ex, Kanye West, saying that she’d love an invitation to Taylor Swift‘s next party, and she promises that Kanye won’t be her plus one.
The show is already a hit with Amber’s many fans.

Earlier in the week, Amber posted a heartbreaking essay on Instagram about being the mother of a young black son, Sebastian Taylor Thomaz, 3, whose father is her ex Wiz Khalifa, in the wake of the killings of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile. It reads in part: “I’m filled with such sadness. Alton and Philando were somebodies babies and they had babies themselves. Kiss ur babies tonight no matter how old they are and tell them you love them more then anything! Because at this rate we don’t know how much time we have left with them.” Her show was filmed prior to these acts of violence, and VH1 aired a brief statement before the episode.
I woke up this morning to my beautiful son with such a heavy heart. I grabbed my baby and kissed him, hugged him, told him how beautiful his skin and hair is and let him know that one day he will be able to change the world and I will love him and accept him no matter what. I stayed off of social media all day today to spend every waking second of my day off with my boy and loved him up. Now that he’s warm in his bed it is so bittersweet that I have my baby next to me and other women are losing their babies left and right. I’m filled with such sadness. Alton and Philando were somebodies babies and they had babies themselves. Kiss ur babies tonight no matter how old they are and tell them you love them more then anything! Because at this rate we don’t know how much time we have left with them.
On Facebook, Amber wrote of Sterling and Castile, “My heart breaks for their children and families. Now more than ever, it’s time for us to come together and heal…I demand today…and every day…that Black Lives Matter.”
And those in New Jersey who are ready to party can catch Amber Saturday night at Harrah’s Pool After Dark in Atlantic City!
