Remember last year, when your newsfeed was filled with videos of people dumping buckets of ice on their head for the Ice Bucket Challenge? The viral movement was an attempt to raise money for the ALS association and according to Cosmopolitan, it actually worked! More than 17 million people participated and now, ALS researchers have made a major breakthrough with the $115 million raised funds.
Now, there’s a new viral charity stunt picking up steam. The 22 Pushup Challenge is part of the 22KILL movement, which is seeking to raise awareness of the mental health issues that affect so many veterans. Named for the 22 war veterans that commit suicide each day, the challenge urges participants to complete 22 pushups (they can be modified!) and share a video to social media to spark a conversation. Once the video is uploaded, participants add the number of pushups they’ve completed to the organization’s hashtag. (For example, 22 pushups would be #22Pushups #2KILL.)
Like her fellow celebrities Chris Pratt, Mario Lopez and John Krasinski, reality star Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi has joined the movement. Watch the Jersey Shore alum and fitness buff tackle the challenge like a boss:
Here is The Rock, who was challenged by Chris Pratt, and challenged Kevin Hart:
#22PushUpChallenge Raising awareness for our 22 US vets who commit suicide daily. If you're a vet and you're going thru it, just know we're thinking about you and you're not alone. Be strong, have faith, keep fighting that good fight and there's always a better day. I challenge my boys @kevinhart4real and @justinjames99 as well as our history making first black OLYMPIC Gold medalist in swimming @swimone13. Thanks to my bud @prattprattpratt for passin' the torch and Hobbs the beast for the bad breath kisses. I'll take em all day ????????????????????
CW Arrow star Katie Cassidy (her dad is David Cassidy of the Partridge Family) challenged fellow Arrow star Stephen Amell:
Actor Kevin Zegers challenged Zac Efron (this we have to see!):
We want to see your pushups for a cause. Just hashtag your Instagram with #omjstyle.
