In a promotional video for the new season, Alicia says, “One thing can either inspire a person or break a person, and I’m looking forward to rooting people on.” Playing up the girl power angle, Alicia also declares, “Two women coaches is what The Voice needs.” Clearly, the contestant are thrilled with the choice of judges this season. In the video we see Alicia ask a contestant, “Where did you learn to sing like that?” His answer: “From you.”
According to CNN, which got a sneak peek of Sunday’s episode as well, “Each of the new coaches take different approaches to wooing potential team members, and at times, Levine and Shelton find it hard to compete. Cyrus plays up her off-beat, youthful energy. Keys, meanwhile, goes for a warm, personal approach that none of the other three could possibly duplicate.”
CNN went on to observe, “Speaking of Keys, early indicators are she’s going to be the most calculated and deliberate coach during auditions this season. She doesn’t seem like the type who will be turning chair around for just any good singer. Her strategy appears to be seeking out singers who she feels a connection to. One person who ends up on her team calls Keys ‘honest and real,’ and that sums up what Keys’ approach to mentoring will probably be as well.”
In case you’re wondering how Alicia and Miley get along, this wacky Snapchat video with the two of them crafting kooky characters and accents, along with plenty of fun filters, which Alicia captioned “Silly vibes with my sis,” should give you an idea:
And if the cat blouse Miley is wearing in this Instagram photo is anything to go on, we’re pretty sure she will be sporting some one-of-a-kind fashions during her judging duties!
