If you ask us, Jessie James Decker always looks fantastic. But a few months ago, some red carpet photos took a hit on the country star’s confidence. Jessie took the moment as an opportunity to make a positive change, which she discussed in a YouTube video she shared with fans to explain her recent fitness journey.

“I just wasn’t happy and I didn’t feel confident in myself,” said the mom of two. “I felt like I was ready to get in shape and cut out all my bad eating habits.”

I'm cheating ???? I needed me a late night happy meal! Eric made me do it!

Jessie put an end to eating whatever she wanted to make some healthy changes so she could have more energy.

“I decided to count my calorie intake, which I know a lot of people frown upon,” said Jessie. “But I got the idea because Carrie Underwood does it and she looks phenomenal. I’ll count my calories so I don’t go overboard, because I can eat like a man.”

Jessie keeps herself within the 1,200 to 1,500 calorie range each day. “It was nothing too crazy, I just watched what I ate. I didn’t starve myself. If I was hungry, I ate. Don’t ever starve yourself, that’s just stupid.” Here’s a breakdown of her diet:
Breakfast: Two eggs, a slice of toast with honey, a bowl of oatmeal and a protein shake.
Lunch: Arugula salad with 4 ounces of grilled chicken and olive oil, lemon juice, salt and pepper and a splash of white wine vinegar.
Post-workout snack: A protein shake. (Jessie explained that you should be consuming 60 to 75 grams of protein a day and that shakes are a great way to do so!)
DinnerA lean steak or fish with sweet potato.
Dessert: A cookie!

As for exercising, Jessie explained that because her recent schedule has been too busy to make it to the gym (Florham Park Fitness is where she goes when she has the time), she’s been squeezing in quick 30 minute workouts at home, using YouTube videos as guides.

Don’t think you can get a good enough workout from a YouTube video? Think again. Jessie said even her NY Jets wide receiver husband Eric was feeling the burn after trying one.

“I had Eric try one with me and he was sweating. He was like ‘Oh my gosh, no wonder you’re getting so fit, this just wore me out and I’m an athlete,'” Jessie revealed.

Jessie also explained that although she’s been getting great results from her lifestyle change, she’s still human.

“I still have my loose mommy skin,” she said. “I still have my C-section pooch right here that I’m sure is never going to go away, but it’s okay, I’m proud of it.”

Jessie then gave an example of one of her at home workouts. Here’s what they typically consist of:

50 jumping jacks to start the workout
15 squat jumps
15 lunge jumps
25 ice skaters
20 mountain climbers
Jog in place
Two sets of 30 reps of “weight running”
15 squats with weights
15 lunge jumps
10 donkey kicks
30 more reps of weight running
20 ice skaters
Jog in place
20 Russian twists

“After you’ve done this entire thing, repeat it once more or twice more if you want to get real crazy,” said Jessie. “Frankly, this is all I had time for today, so I’m going to have my protein shake with cashew milk.”

We can’t wait to test out Jessie’s routine! Side note: how cool is this video of Jessie working out with Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi and Anthony Michael? As fantastic as Jessie’s at home routine is, we can’t imagine what a workout with these three in Florham Park would be like!
