MTV’s Video Music Awards were at Madison Square Garden this year, but Nick Jonas made his performance all about New Jersey.
The Wyckoff native, who performed despite his nomination snub, took the show outside of Madison Square Garden. The performance began in the Manhattan location of the Tick Tock Diner, the legendary 24/7 restaurant on Route 3 Clifton, New Jersey. In typical Jersey fashion, the rendition of “Bacon” was centered around Nick’s friends and family, who were seated throughout the diner.
New York Giant Odell Beckham Jr., Nick’s brother, Joe and his DNCE bandmates, social media star The Fat Jewish and Ashley Graham all snacked on breakfast while the 23-year-old strutted around in a green leather bomber jacket and matching pants. (Actually, Joe didn’t do much snacking. If you look closely, he’s literally just squirting maple syrup on the table. Come on, Joe.)
Nick moved the performance outside to 34th Street, where a block filled with fans watched the former boy bander finish the song with rapper Ty Dolla $ign.
To remember the night forever, Nick and Joe (who took home the award for Best New Artist with DNCE) got matching arrow tattoos before the show.
What an amazing VMAs experience for those of us across the river!
