Meet the Head Knight of Medieval Times.

Most of us head into an office, sit at a desk, work 9 to 5 and call it a day. Well, not for this guy. Andrew Thomas’ job title reads “Head Knight” at Medieval Times in Lyndhurst and he recently opened up about what it takes to succeed at his rather unusual career.

“I’ve been at Medieval Times for 10 years,” he said in a video posted on Facebook. “I started as part time in the photo department because I needed a job while I was in college.” Andrew then worked his way up to Head Knight status and now leads the show and leads daily practice sessions.

“We practice every day before the show, so we know the other guy is doing,” he added. “You want to make sure you’re on the same page. Sometimes we bring some horses out and then the last 45 minutes before the show you hang out, cool down, polish boots, get dressed, put all the costume stuff on, do my hair, brush it out a little bit, then get on the horse and do the show.”

Sound odd for livelihood? Even he admitted this isn’t your typical day job. “It’s one of those things like how did I even get into this,” he said.
