We know New Jersey is a great state, but now the whole world does after getting a shout out during the Emmy awards on Sunday night. During Game of Thrones’ showrunner David Benioff’s thank you speech for winning outstanding drama series, he called out the hometowns of the cast and crew.
“We have the best cast that’s I think ever been assembled, from Wales, from England, from Ireland … from Scotland … from … and from New Jersey,” he said while pointing to a particular cast member during the September 19 awards show.
The Garden State mention was a nod to show star and nominee for outstanding supporting actor, Peter Dinklage, who was born in Morristown and grew up in Mendham. And he’s not the only Jersey native from the show. George R.R. Martin, the author of the series of books on which Game of Thrones is based and an executive producer, was born in Bayonne.
It’s only been three months since the show’s epic Season 6 finale but it already feels like forever since we watched Dinklage’s character Tyrion Lannister heading to Westeros as the new Hand of the Queen.
No word yet on when Season 7 will start airing. Until then, check out Short Hills jewelry designer Catherine Marion‘s recently released Demoiselle collection at for Jemily Fine Jewelry inspired by the hit show.
