Have your (pan)cake and eat them too at these Bergen County pancake houses

There are few bad moods that a giant pancake can’t fix. Whether it’s topped with fresh fruit or soaked in syrup, there truly is a pancake for everyone. While you can always hit up an IHOP to fill your fluffy pancake needs (they have locations in Englewood, Fair Lawn, Teaneck, Ramsey and Hasbrouck Heights), there are a few Bergen County pancake houses that should certainly be on your radar.

1. Country Pancake House in Ridgewood

Country Pancake House has some of the biggest pancakes to ever grace our Instagram feed. If you’re not feeling up to conquering a giant mountain of fluffy goodness, with more than 100 pancake variations, 20 kinds of French Toast and 50 Belgian Waffle options, there’s still plenty on the menu.

Not sure what to order? Try the New Jersey Original, which is four medium sized sour cream and poppy seed batter pancakes for $8.95.

2. Matthew’s Diner and Pancake House in Bergenfield.

Any pancake house with multiple ice cream options is a pancake house we want to be at. Matthew’s has some amazing a la Mode, Matinee and Sundae dishes. If dessert for breakfast isn’t your thing, there are plenty of fresh fruit, gluten free and whole grain dishes, too.

What to eat: The Matthew’s menu covers all of the breakfast basics, but the Potato Pancakes meal ($7.75) with shredded potatoes, onions and parsley served with bacon and applesauce is a definite standout.

3. Rutherford Pancake House in downtown Rutherford.

Rutherford Pancake House is the spot for you if find yourself saying the words “but instead of…” every time you place an order. With tons of toppings, the menu is super customizable and even offers vegan and gluten free pancakes.

Still can’t make your mind up? Try the Sweet Potato Pancakes ($6.99).

4. Maywood Pancake House in Maywood.

As you can see, this pancake house does not skimp on the strawberries. Maywood has the same menu as the Rutherford Pancake House, as they’re both owned by the Spiro Alexander and Rick Roder.

5. Westwood Diner in Westwood

These silver dollar pancakes are way too adorable! From omelettes to pancakes, this classic New Jersey diner has a menu filled with all of your favorite breakfast items.

You should order the tall stack of buttermilk pancakes with Taylor ham ($6.25), for obvious reasons.

6. Brownstone Pancake Factory in Edgewater.

This Edgewater restaurant is famous for its extravagant milkshakes and pancake wraps. It serves a unique array of breakfast foods all day long.

Brownstone is also a favorite of Ice-TCoco and their adorable baby Chanel.

Definitely try Guy Fieri’s Triple “D” Buffalo Chicken Pancake Wrap. Featured on Diner’s, Drive-In’s & Dives, this $11.95 meal is buffalo fried chicken, mozzarella, roasted peppers and bleu cheese wrapped in an enormous pancake.
