New Jersey is home to many influential people (and you can read about all of them on OMJ), but also home to some of the richest in the country. Forbes just released its 2016 list of the top wealthiest billionaires in America, and there were a number of Garden Staters in the exclusive bunch and one from Bergen County.
Who topped the list for BC? Coming in at number 347 on the list is Larry Robbins who is worth a whopping $1.8 Billion. “Larry Robbins, founder of hedge fund firm Glenview Capital Management, is known for both his hot streaks and his cold streaks,” wrote Forbes. His main residence is in Alpine, but he also has a $38 million apartment in Manhattan.
In addition to his impressive real estate holdings, Robbins is also quite charitable. He is a vice-chair of the Robin Hood Foundation, serves as chairman of the board for KIPP New York and Relay Graduate School of Education, and is a member of the board of Teach For America in New York.
Robbins was joined by four other New Jersey residents on the list including Donald Newhouse of Somerset County worth $10.9 billion, John Overdeck of Millburn worth $3.3 billion, Leon G. Cooperman of Short Hills worth $3.1 billion, and Peter Kellogg of Short Hills worth $2.8 billion.
