We’ve gotten to know Lauren Manzo Scalia very well over the years on Manzo’d With Children and Real Housewives of New Jersey. We’ve seen her grow up, attend beauty school, and even get married. But what you may not know about the 28-year-old is that she is an entrepreneur and business owner with three successful beauty salons under her belt. Although she recently closed the doors of her first Franklin Lakes salon, Cafface Beauty Bar, Lauren is showing no signs of slowing down. She recently opened her full service Wayne salon Full Blown, back in May, right next door to her cousin Candice Laurita’s adorable shop Dazzle Candy. She is also in the middle of building her second Full Blown location in Westchester County with partner Lia Cagliostro. Lauren invited us to take a tour of her beautiful salon, which sits right on Packanack Lake. We chatted about everything from her difficult pregnancy, to her brand new home, and she dishes on some surprising facts fans may not know about her family.

Lauren and her husband of just over one year, Vito Scalia, are expecting their first child together early next year. Lauren tells me she is 5 months along now and ready to go. Lauren has already revealed whether it’s going to be a boy or girl to her family and friends, but is keeping it a secret from the public, for now.
“We did a reveal party. All of our family and friends know,” she says. “I dont know if I want to make it public yet. I didn’t really want to make my pregnancy public to be honest. We’re trying to figure out a way we can do some kind of reveal and make it cute.”
Lauren tells me she’s been busy picking out names for her future bundle of joy, but apparently nobody likes them except for her, but her ideas are finally starting to grow on Vito. Where the two have a difference of opinion is on how many children they want. Lauren, who tells me she’s been having a rough pregnancy, wants to keep their future family small, whereas Vito’s motto is the more the merrier.
Lauren tells me, “Oh I don’t know. I think the way this pregnancy is going, if I have a boy and girl, then I’m done. Vito wants four. I want max three.”
Lauren also reveals to me that this pregnancy was completely unexpected. She and Vito had been trying for a while, but then decided to take a break.
“We actually found out late at night. We were out to dinner and we were having a work meeting, and we got a little drunk, and I was like ‘By the way guys I just realized I’m a week late,'” she tells me. “We took a pregnancy test here and I looked at it and was like ‘No, no, no. This is not the right time. I’m not ready for this.’ Because I was planning and trying to get pregnant and then we decided to stop.”
Lauren revealed the news to her mom Caroline Manzo with her cousin Candice immediately, and as to be expected the former Real Housewives of New Jersey star was beyond excited.
“I was with Candice and Candice has two kids so she goes ‘Are you pregnant again?’ And Candice is like ‘No!'” Lauren tells me. “I was like ‘Mom I handed you the test. It’s mine!’ And she was like ‘Nooooo’ and she started screaming and crying and she was freaking out.”
To make room for their budding family, Lauren and Vito moved out of Caroline’s Franklin Lakes home, and decided to make their roots right in Wayne by purchasing their first home. Lauren has enlisted the help of her mother, who recently began her own her empty nest house makeover, to decorate the new home, including the nursery.
“I’m so not into any of that. I’m really bad at it, and I don’t like to do things I’m not good at. I actually just sat on a couch for an hour at Home Goods the other day while my mom just filled the cart up all the way. Literally the only thing I picked out for my house is the couch, and I picked it out for comfort.”
Over the years we’ve gotten to know Lauren, Caroline and the rest of the Manzo family — patriarch Albert Manzo, and brothers Albie Manzo and Chris Manzo — very well. The gang has been on our television screens for the past 7 years, and Lauren tells me they really are as close as they seem. They are even together every single Sunday for a family dinner. But she says that fans still don’t know everything about them.
“My mom is not as overbearing as she looks on TV. I’m a lot more laid back than I always look.I think being on camera makes me a little more up tight. I’m super laid back, I like to have fun, I like to laugh, I like to have a good time. I’m not as nasty as I always seem on television. I definitely have my serious moments, but they don’t always show my good side.”
Her care and dedication Full Blown is definitely part of that good side and the adorable and chic salon reflects her philosophy of business.
“It’s nice and boutique-y. It’s comfortable,” she said of the full service salon which offers the usual hair services and plus hair extensions, brow and lash tinting, makeup, and traveling spray tans. “I love the energy of a big salon, but the customers are really enjoying coming to a nice small boutique-y salon.”
