Kelly Ripa hasn’t had a steady co-host for almost six months ever since Michael Strahan left and many are vying for the coveted seat next to the host. While many celebs have temporarily stepped in for the role, Live with Kelly hosted a contest asking fans to apply to fill in for one day. And one fan stood out more than the others.
Richard Curtis, a high school teacher from Perkasie, Pennsylvania, won the coveted role and guest co-hosted with the Stratford native on October 21. He was such a hit, that he’s actually been asked to return to the show on November 7. So, who is this talented guy?
Richard is the father of two kids, daughter Leighton and son Parker, and married to his wife Lindsay. All of them were in the audience to cheer him on. “This whole journey wouldn’t have happened without my wife,” he told the Perkasie NewsHerald.
On top of being a devoted family man, he’s also a television production teacher for grades 9 through 12 at Souderton Area High School. “This is the first time as a teacher I’m going to have [everyone’s] full [attention],” he said on the show. “Everybody’s watching me and listening to what I’m saying. Maybe we should teach something at this point!”
The charming teacher had great chemistry with Kelly and he’s so excited to return to the show. “Honestly, so excited to be back in that chair! Hosting that show was incredible and I’m ready to show America the guy they saw is who I really am! Blessed!” Richard wrote on Instagram. “This is all because my wife rocks and made me do it!!! Thanks Boo!!!”
