Just when we thought the phrase ‘squad goals’ was just a trend, the Oxygen network decided to create a show to ensure you never forget the importance of having great friends. In their new reality series Last Squad Standing premiering Tuesday (November 1), three teams battle it out in physical challenges week after week for a chance to win $100,000, but like every great show in TV history there’s a twist.
The show brings together three teams from New Jersey, Detroit and Baltimore for an intense competition of strength, intellect and loyalty. Team Jersey, is also known as Jersey Bosses and all are from Bergen County: head honcho Caroline De Peri of Saddle Brook, thrill seeker Kaitlyn Miele of Wood-Ridge, short-tempered Jay Alkhodary of Elmwood Park, newly single Gia Palmieri of Paramus and goofball Steven Herrera of Maywood, who just so happens to have some deep-rooted tension with his buddy Jay.
“Outside your family, your friends are the strongest bonds in your life through thick and thin. By giving these squads a chance at a life changing prize, their friendships will be put to the ultimate test of survival through physically demanding and emotionally charged challenges,” said Rod Aissa, Executive Vice President of Original Programming and Development, Oxygen Media.
Remember the twist we mentioned earlier? After each week, the losing team must decide amongst their own squad who should be voted into the elimination round, where the winning teams ultimately get to decide their fate. The squad remaining with the most members on their team gets to take home the cash prize.
The series is hosted by TV personality veteran Alesha Reneé, who has appeared on MTV2 Girl Code and Guy Code, BET’s 106 & Park and E! News. She’s also currently filming FOX’s new action-packed spinoff 24: Legacy.
To root for the Jersey Bosses, tune into Last Squad Standing Tuesdays at 9 p.m. on Oxygen. Expect lots of hookups, drama and of course, laughter!
