Neiman Marcus in Paramus hosted a fabulous Haute Hippie fashion show with The Woman’s Club of Upper Saddle River on Wednesday. At the Garden State Plaza event, which benefits The Upper Saddle River and Allendale Volunteer Ambulance Corps, ladies were treated to a presentation with 12 stunning fall looks from the advanced contemporary brand, fun giveaways, and a Tom Ford lip and fragrance bar.

Haute Hippie’s creative director Cady Vaccaro told me the show was a combination of what’s in the current collection as well as some of her one-of-a-kind treasures that she brought in specifically for us Jersey girls. Most of the looks we saw were full of layers upon layers, which is something Cady loves. “Everything is about the layer. We are layered luxury,” she tells me.

One of the standout looks from the show was their gorgeous gala dress which was layered with a fun feather-fringe sweater on top, and paired with a basket-woven leather jacket, which is a piece very near and dear to Cady.

“When I designed it I thought to myself, ‘every woman has a leather jacket.’ I don’t think anyone out there does not have a leather jacket, so what can I do to force you to need, want, desire, have-to-have this leather jacket,” she says. “So it’s a very soft, un-lined jacket with all thin strips of leather woven together, so the jacket basically conforms to your body.”

We also saw beautiful tops with great golden accents, as well as a super chic printed burnout velvet dress, which Cady tells me “is everything right now, nothing is more important in fall trends than velvet.”

The designer, who has been with Haute Hippe for just over a year, also challenged attendees to layer it up this season. A great trick she shared with me is to pair a favorite dress with a great sweater on top. “It’s sort of like you’re extending your wardrobe. It’s not only a dress, but it’s a dress that acts as a skirt,” she says.

Cady also recommends for every woman to have a classic parka jacket in her wardrobe. “I think that it’s an essential piece because I love wearing it alone, but also pairing it over my winter jacket,” she says. “So it gives you extra warmth, extra style, and it goes a little bit further.”
