Bravo bossman Andy Cohen has everyone talking with the release of his new book Superficial. The Watch What Happens Live host’s follow-up to the uber popular The Andy Cohen Diaries is a dishier and juicier account of his escapades, from personal, professional, and behind-the-scenes. In the ultra-personal book, Andy tells us not only what goes down, but exactly what he thinks about it — from The Housewives franchises, to his celebrity besties (Kelly Ripa and Sarah Jessica Parker anyone!) and everything in between. I had a chance to chat with Andy about his third book before his appearance at New Jersey City University Wednesday night where he dished out career advice, telling students to “get as many internships as you can and also never give up.”
Andy tells me it’s a gossipy, revealing, and dishy continuation of his diaries from the past year and a half of his life. “It’s behind the scenes of a late night talk show, raising a dog, falling in love,” he says. “A lot of situations where I put my foot in my mouth, and a lot about celebrity.”
The 48-year-old tells me there’s also a lot about the Real Housewives of New Jersey, especially Teresa Giudice, in the funny and easy read. He says you’ll learn about “my relationship with her and my correspondence when she was in jail and a secret lunch that we had before she left. I think people will be surprised by our relationship and our correspondence. We have unique relationship.”
Now that Season 7 of RHONJ is winding down, I had to ask Andy if there’s talk about Season 8 yet. He tells me, “I hope so. I hope it will go on and on and on.”
As for those rumors that Danielle Staub could possibly be making her grand return next season, he tells me, “There’s been some interesting developments there. It seems like she and Teresa have been hanging out. Never say never. You never know”
He’s also not too sure if we will ever see Teresa and Jacqueline Laurita reunite after their tumultuous year. “I don’t know,” he tells me. “They seem pretty over to me, but they do come to some resolution at the end of the Part 2 of the reunion.” (which airs this Sunday night).
To celebrate the book’s release Andy will be appearing at Word Bookstore in Jersey City on November 15th, which is a town near and dear to his heart as he adopted his rescue dog Wacha from See Spot Rescued. He will be personalizing each book and taking photos with fans at the signing which starts at 7pm. Tickets are $27 and can be purchased at wordbookstores.com. Word is located at 123 Newark Avenue in Jersey City.
