It says a lot when you’re instantly filled with jealously after walking into a kid’s clothing store, because you can’t fit any of their adorable fashion! Well, that’s exactly how I felt when I stepped inside Little Skye Children’s Boutique in the beautiful downtown area of Ridgewood. This full service shop provides chic designer clothes, accessories, shoes, toys, books and more for young New Jersey trendsetters.
Founder and owner Melissa Troise started the business in 2008 after working as a high school English teacher for 14 years and then having her first child, Evelyn Skye. The new mom wanted to spend more time with her daughter and fulfill her new obsession with children’s clothing, so she turned her idea into a website and the rest is history.
Melissa later teamed up with Paul Bordieri to open the the brick-and-mortar store in Ridgewood. It has quickly become a go-to shopping destination for Bergen County. While Paul owns the Bergen County store, Melissa also serves as the buyer, creative director and merchandiser for both the website and the brand itself.
Little Skye is one-stop-shop for children and tweens of various ages. Whether you’re going to baby shower or shopping for your middle schooler who’s convinced you don’t know what’s cool, this is the place to be. Your child is bound to stand out in the best way with these fashion-forward threads.
Her daughters stood out in a major way as they walked in the store’s adorable first children’s fashion show.
Brands: Paper Wings (an exclusive brand to the store. Melissa actually designs a majority of the patterns), Joah Love, People’s Project LA (PPLA), Jack and Pepper, Mayoral, Rylee and Cru, Ella Moss, Molo, Splendid, Stella McCartney, Play Up, Blu Pony Vintage and a bunch more!
Price range: $14-$220
There’s even a little play area to keep the kids occupied while the parents are shopping! It’s like a mini mall, toy store and daycare all under one roof. It’s literally impossible to leave here without a smile or a purchase.
Specialties: Besides stocking their shelves and racks with some organically made clothing and pima cotton garbs, there’s more reasons customers can’t get enough of this place. Dresses and tunics are a hot commodity at this boutique. Their Bohemian collections also sell-out fast.
I wasn’t the only one trying to squeeze into a size 16 for girls in order to sport one of these fabulous outfits, which is why Little Skye recently decided to add women’s clothing to their inventory in a way to satisfy the needs of their style savvy shoppers.
Little Skye Boutique is currently looking to expand their client list by opening up a second location in New Jersey. Until then, we’re going to find any excuse to come back to Ridgewood to spend our money here!
