The holiday season is officially upon us which means there are lots of presents to buy and even more parties to attend! Before you begin feeling overwhelmed or confused about how you’re going to fit every social engagement into your increasingly busy schedule, actress and lifestyle blogger Katrina Bowden has a few guidelines that will ensure you get the most out of your plans.

Exercise in the morning
Your mind might be pumped for your late night shenanigans, but you also need to guarantee your body is ready too. Release some sweat and build some muscles at the gym or in the comfort of your home before you head out. Your body will thank you later.
“Working out first thing will also keep you in the right mindset for the rest of the day…if you workout early, you’re more likely to make better decisions all day and night,” the 28-year-old Wyckoff native wrote on her blog.

Proper nourishments are a major key
Filling your stomach with the right foods can prevent a disaster happening later on in the night. It’s also important to stay hydrated. Drinking water after ever alcoholic beverage will reduce your chances of ending up a drunk mess with a Snapchat story you’ll regret the next day.
“Even if it is a dinner party, don’t show up hungry….if you do you will probably make worse food choices or find yourself elbow deep in the cheese and cracker platter. I usually have a small salad, an apple with almond butter, half a protein bar or a protein shake about an hour or two before going to the party,” Katrina added.

Plan your ride accordingly
You’re old enough to know never to get behind the wheel intoxicated, even if you think you know your limit. It’s better to be safe than sorry, so order a pick up and drop off service like Uber or Lyft to get you and friends home.
“Drinking and driving is NEVER a good idea,” wrote Katrina.
