Some Garden State residents are going above and beyond with their Christmas lights displays.

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas! Now that Thanksgiving is over everyone has the green light to go ahead and put up those holiday lights to get in the festive spirit. But, some people are a little more intense than others. As a state known for being a bit over-the-top sometimes (Real Housewives of New Jersey any one?), it’s no surprise that there are several homes throughout the state that take their Christmas decorating to a whole other level.

Take the famous lights on Evergreen in Demarest. The 45-minute Christmas light show is up by 16-year-old Daniel Eisenberg in memory of his mother who passed away in 2010. The colorful display has been described as “Better than Disney on Ice” by some and features songs like “All I Want For Christmas is You” by Mariah Carey and “Let Me Love You” by Justin Bieber. If you want to drive by for a peek it goes most nights from 4:30 pm until 11:30 pm, but check the Facebook page for updates.

Nearby in Demarest is “Christmas on Vanore,” a musically animated holiday display that was voted 2015 winner for best in the state by NJ.com. Though the house is tiny, the light choreography is out of this world. They’re aiming for a December 1 start date this year and have been hard at working getting up the new display.

The family over in Waldwick has been putting up their incredible display for year and even has a website for their annual light show. “You can feel the holidays come to life in the comfort of your own car,” they wrote. “We invite you to come visit us and feel the spirit of Christmas. Tune your car radio to 104.9 FM ‘Reindeer Radio’ and enjoy!”

A bit further south in Cedar Grove the Vargo couple on Union Street has set up a display for the past three years that takes about 100 hours to set up. A street was actually shut down last year to reveal the display and the pair also added a charity element to their light show by asking for donations to Toys for Tots.
