Real Housewives of New Jersey star Siggy Flicker star gave a rousing speech Thursday morning to a sold out crowd of over 200 women as the featured guest at The Fall 2016 Breakfast Club. The fabulous event, which was held at Alpine Country Club in Demarest, benefits Englewood Hospital and Medical Center and will help underwrite the purchase of robotic surgical equipment for GYN cancer procedures.
The prominent relationship expert read excerpts from her best-selling book Write Your Own Fairy Tale: The New Rules for Dating, Relationships, and Finding Love On Your Terms. The Sig also dished out some of her best advice to the audience, telling everyone it is so important “to live your authentic self, live life to the fullest, and accept rejection because it is part of life.”
The mom-of-two also got real with the crowd about a medical scare she dealt with a few years ago. Siggy, who had suffered from fibroids most her life, revealed after a painful pregnancy with her 17-year-old daughter Sophie Flicker, she felt something was not right with her body. She went to a doctor who told her it was a cyst on her ovary, but insisted it wasn’t that big of a deal. She decided to ignore the doctor and listen to her body. She then found Dr. Nimesh Nagarsheth, the Chief of Gynecologic Oncology at EHMC, who she says saved her life. He performed a laparoscopic hysterectomy on her and discovered borderline cancer on the left ovary. Siggy told the crowd it is so important to receive routine check ups and trust your gut. “I don’t know if I would be standing up here today. I don’t know what would have happened,” she said. “My life was saved because I had a doctor who gave me the right advice, and I listened to my gut instincts.”
Siggy’s RHONJ co-star Dolores Catania was also on hand to support her bestie. Click below for your inside look at this great morning.
