Luxury home sale of the week: inside this architecturally renowned $5.89 million Alpine mansion

This stunning French chateau is located in Alpine, New Jersey.

Another week, another stunning mansion for sale in North Jersey. While we’ve taken a look at some grand estates in spots like Tenafly, this week it’s all about an incredible abode in Alpine.

While the ritzy enclave is home to many beautiful homes and is the No. 1 New Jersey town with the highest home value, this 6 beds, 7.5 baths mansion listed for $5.89 million is even more impressive because it was designed by award winning architect and builder David Lawrence Brown AIA. He “was inspired as he drove up the serpentine like private drive, by the endless design possibilities for this Chateau-styled manor,” reads the listing. And the grand estate is meant to “transport you to the country residences of French Nobility.” Well, they succeeded.

The exterior of the home features classic European design details like complex roof lines, steeply-pitched slate-roof, timber beams, stucco and lime stone materials. But, the interior-style is classic with a contemporary twist. You’ll see many old-world elements in the craftsmanship with chateau style details like “projecting vistas, rooms within turrets, grand halls for entertaining, and intimate nooks.” Meanwhile, rooms like the kitchen and family room have a simple, more modern feel to them.  Of course, additions like a movie theater, billiard room, gym and pool also add to the contemporary environment.

Bonus: this French retreat is located less then 11 miles to New York City.
