Bruce Springsteen has given a lot to his fans this year. Between a memoir, a concert and book tour, he’s made his life totally accessible. But, now you can own a totally unique piece of The Boss: his car.
Yup, the rocker’s 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air Convertible is for sale on eBay, according to a press release from the seller, Springsteen historian Michael Crane. Bruce bought the ride in 1975 for $2,000 and the current bid on eBay is over $75,000.
“The car is in great running condition since the electrical and mechanical systems have been overhauled; the body and frame are untouched just the way it was when Bruce owned it,” reads the release. You also get the original vehicle registration, a temporary insurance card, the Allstate insurance card issued in Bruce’s name and address and an 80-page book, “Out in the Street: Bruce Springsteen’s 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air Convertible.”
And this car wasn’t just owned by Springsteen, it was also featured on the covers of Time and Newsweek, in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Annex in New York City from 2008 to 2010, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland and the singer wrote about it in his book Songs. “In ‘70s New Jersey, the car was still a powerful image,” he wrote. “That summer I bought my first set of wheels for $2,000. It was a ‘57 Chevy with dual, four-barrel carbs, a Hurst on the floor and orange flames spread across the hood.”
Once the fame kicked in and the car became recognizable, the “Born to Run” singer decided to sell it in 1976 and instead bought a 1960 Corvette from a clerk at a Long Branch Carvel.
Want a shot at owning the gem? You still have six days to place your bid and the car is located in Fair Lawn, so an easy pick up.
