Let’s be real. Pants are, sometimes quite literally, a pain in the backside. Thankfully, fashion has evolved and we don’t even really need them anymore. Everyone knows a girl who hates wearing pants, so here’s what to buy her this holiday season. (Or really anyone, because like we said, pants are a pain.)
Thigh high boots
In the winter, thigh high boots are the best friend of any girl who hates wearing pants. They’re the best way to keep your legs warm while running around pants-less. Stuart Weitzman Over-The-Knee Boots are pretty much the pinnacle of thigh highs, but if you’re not really in the mood to drop $798, there are plenty of lookalike options. Nordstrom has Steve Madden, Franco Sarto and Calvin Klein boots all around the $100 price range.
Thigh high socks
Wearing thigh high boots with the wrong socks is so uncomfortable, it should be a Fear Factor stunt. If you’re going to gift a pair of tall boots, it might be a good idea to throw in some socks, too. Otherwise, you’re basically giving a kid a battery operated toy without the batteries. Forever 21 always has a selection of knee-high socks.
Fleece lined tights
If you’ve ever watched an episode of Gossip Girl, the phrase “Tights are not pants!” is probably ingrained in your memory.
Blair Waldorf was totally right. Tights are not pants. Tights are way more fun to wear. Get the girl who hates pants a pair of fleece lined tights so her legs stay toasty. Urban Outfitters carries them for $16, so they’re the perfect stocking stuffer!
Right now, fashion is at a really great place for all girls who hate wearing pants because oversized sweatshirts are currently being marketed as dresses. Zara has tons of sweatshirt “dresses” at the moment and the girl who hates pants will cheerfully prance around in any one of them.
Shirt dresses are just the slightly less casual version of sweatshirt dresses. Westwood boutique Ludovica is a pants-hater’s heaven with all of its button down dresses.
To the average pants-wearer, sweatshirt dresses, shirt dresses and sweater dresses probably all seem like the same thing. Girls who hate pants understand what makes each style unique and which situations call for each look. Gap has some of the coziest sweater dresses available.
It’s always nice to play it safe when dressing sans pants. You never know when Gypsy Warrior’s $8 My Little Secret Shorts will come in handy.
For the days when oversized tops won’t cut it, call in the leggings. These Lululemon leggings are the closest you’ll get to no pants while actually wearing bottoms.
Leggings are generally accepted as pants these days, but for anyone who may still be apprehensive, long cardigans are the move. Any sweater that covers the backside will quickly become a staple in the closet of anyone who dislikes pants. Femmebot, the boutique located in Ridgewood and Montclair, has the perfect comfy cardigan.
