It looks like Nick Cannon will be spending the holiday weekend in the hospital due to unexpected complications from lupus, an autoimmune disease. On Thursday, the Saddle River resident remained in good spirits as he took to his personal Instagram to make the announcement .

“For all who have been trying to contact me the last few days this is where I’ve been,” Nick wrote on Instagram. “And I will be in the Hospital through Christmas. All good though, Doctors say I will be back to normal before the New Year.”

Just days earlier, the 36-year-old entertainer made another visit to the hospital but for completely different reasons. He took a trip with American civil rights activist Dick Gregory to the Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, D.C. to spread some holiday cheer for tiny tykes in need of a spirit boost. Little did Nick know, he’d end up in the hospital for his own health reasons.

The America’s Got Talent host suffered a previous scare when he was hospitalized back in 2012 for mild kidney failure and later for blood clots in his lungs. The clots found were directly connected to his kidney infection, according to a statement Nick gave to People. His ex-wife Mariah Carey was by his side every step of the way.

The 46-year-old songstress will have their 5-year-old twins Morrocan and Monroe for Christmas as their father works on getting better. Mariah recently posted an adorable video to her Instagram showing just how she keeps her kids occupied for the holiday season. Mariah and her son Morrocan were having fun cooking in the kitchen while belting out the lyrics to her smash hit, “All I Want for Christmas is You.”

We’re sure Nick received the video and instantly smiled at all the cuteness. Get well soon Nick, we’re rooting for you!
