We love covering all things celeb at OMJ and nothing is more exciting than celebrity real estate. Whether a famous New Jersey resident is buying or selling a home, it gives us a chance to take a peek inside their personal havens. And as we step into the first days of 2017 NJ.com decided to take a look back at the homes of the rich and famous that hit the market right here in the Garden State. Here are some of our favorites:
Ice-T and his wife Coco’s North Bergen townhouse sold for $800,000 in November after paying $1.5 million for it in 2008 and spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on renovations. This was the 2,000 square foot condo featured on the show Ice Loves Coco that came with a doorman, views of New York City, black onyx kitchen floor and countertops, Brazilian cherry hardwood floors, a Ralph Lauren bed and custom furniture, built in speakers with two surround sound systems, a marble master bathroom with Jacuzzi tub and gym access.
Other lavish homes on the market included Mary J. Blige’s Saddle River mansion that boasts 8 bedrooms and its own basketball court. The home still hasn’t sold after being listed in 2015 for $13 million, but only $9.88 in 2016. Natalie Morales made out well after selling her Hoboken townhouse for $3.1 million after buying it for $1 million, Rosie O’Donnell dropped the price of her 6-bedroom English Country-style estate in Saddle River from nearly $7 million to $6.5 million, and DJ Envy, and his wife Gia Casey, are selling their Kinnelon Colonial on nearly 7 acres for $2.2 million.
And we can’t forget about Kevin Jonas and his wife Danielle who put their Boonton Township home back on the market in July for $2.3 million. The home features a finished basement designed by the TV show Man Cave that includes a cigar lounge. Also, Sean Combs finally sold his 7-bedroom Alpine home (complete with an indoor basketball court) in October for $5.5 million.
One star fared the worst this past year when it came to real estate. Real Housewives of New Jersey star Teresa Giudice lost her 3-bedroom rental property in Lincoln Park to foreclosure while her co-star Jacqueline Laurita managed to keep her Franklin Lakes home out of foreclosure this past June and is even busy redecorating.
A couple of celebs even purchased places in the Garden State this year like Jon Stewart who bought the historic Hockhockson Farm in Colts Neck for $4 million with the intention of turning it into an animal sanctuary for farm animals and a farm education center and Manzo’d With Children star Lauren Manzo, who bought a 3-bedroom, 2-bath split level home in Wayne for $500,000.
